You could say we've been green since we began making furniture in 1947 – long before taking care of the environment became a selling point. We did it then – and we do it now – just because it's right. We select all our wood from local forests to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible – and from forests well-managed for sustainability to aid with carbon sequestration. We burn all our wood waste for heat or steam, use formaldehyde-free glue, and make most of our packaging from recyclable materials. We even have a long-standing practice of recycling old machine parts to make something new and useful. One hundred years ago, it was called being frugal. Today it's called being green. Either way, it makes sense. Landfills aren't. Well, we know they have their purpose, but we don't want to help fill them. That's why we're committed to making furniture that's so durable in construction your children will pass it on... and so timeless in design, your grandchildren will be proud to own it.
